Here’s The Rundown
New Technology Being Adapted for the Trucking Industry
I read a lot of news – joys of a podcaster – and came across some very interesting articles about trucking companies using the Uber Model. Color me intrigued. Before I did the research, I was talking with some friends about the idea and it was a mixed bag on whether or not it would work. So I did some digging and actually the Uber Model could be a major game-changer for local shipping. One company, in particular, Cargomatic, has implemented this model and I’m really interested in seeing how they grow and expand.

Company of the Week
Prime Inc. is the Trucking Nation Company of the Week! They have adapted to the new technical age we have found ourselves in by integrating the latest technology available for their drivers. Prime Inc. also takes great pride in providing the best and safest equipment for its drivers. I’m a big fan of their band – The Brothers Roberson – and the song Why I Do This. Check out the video, it’s amazing.

Association of the Week
Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is the Trucking Nation Association of the Week! There are a lot of great things that can be said about his association. They fight for the rights of truckers and provide more benefits than you could ever imagine.
Tips To Getting Back On Track With Your Fitness Goals
Have you gotten off track with your fitness goals? Well, my dear, you’re not the only one. I was really slacking on fitness goals in February. I got back in gear and now I’m excited every morning to get in a workout and eat colorful food. I feel better too. If you want to get back on the road to a healthier lifestyle, take baby steps. Here are some great tips:
  • Switch out one of your cups of coffee for tea. If you drink black coffee, then you should really give black tea a go. They come in tons of flavors and are really strong and bold. Probably very close to your personality 🙂
  • Put lemons in your water to give it some flavor and to help detox your system. If you cut up a lemon and put it into your water bottle or water jug, you will be amazed at how great you feel. A glass of lemon water in the morning is a great start to the day. Lemon water is just a great way to jazz up boring old water and it has tons of health benefits.
  • Get a good morning stretch in before you head out on the road. Stretching is a great way to wake you up in the morning and helps decrease muscle tension that can build up from sitting for hours on end. And it’s perfect all you truckers that can be a tiny bit grumpy in the mornings.
  • Slowly cut out fatty and fried foods from your diet. If you are finding it hard to transition to healthier food, don’t worry it’s not something that can be rushed. Start with eating healthier snack options, and then switch out fried foods for colorful wraps and salads. Creating a simple goal, like no fried food, is a perfect way to start.
Pet on the Road
Have you ever considered having a pet with you on the road? If you are out on the road alone all the time it can get a bit lonely and not a lot of people can really relate to your job problems. You need someone to talk to and get out that stress that has been building up during that 5-hour traffic jam, right? Having a pet with you on the road is great for your health, and not just mental health. They are great motivators to get you out and walking around, and you feel safer knowing your best friend is always with you. Dogs and cats make great travel companions and there are amazing pets in shelters all over the country that need a good home. I know there is a lucky dog just waiting for the chance to see the country with you and enjoy the fresh air.
Thank you so much for joining me this week. I love talking about all the positive things going on in the Trucking Industry. I have a big interview for next week’s show, so be sure to come back for a visit. Remember my dearest Trucking Nation, you get what you give in this world, so try to be kind and enjoy the ride. I will talk to you soon – Misty Noel.
