TruckLogics Salute to National Transportation Week & National Armed Forces Day

National Transportation Week is coming to an end, so now is the perfect time for a TruckLogics Grand Celebration. If you didn't know tomorrow, Saturday May 17th, is National Armed Forces Day!

A little back story on National Armed Forces Day,
President Harry S. Truman wanted to establish a single holiday for America to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our Country. Then, on August 31, 1949, Louis Johnson, Secretary of Defense 1949-1959, announced the celebration of Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day brought together all the separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.

To honor our Nation's Military during Transportation Week, join me for a unique look at how our Armed Forces take transportation to a whole new level.

On land, there is only one vehicle tough enough to take-on any terrain - The HET M1070A1.
The Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) A1 is specifically engineered to move tanks, armored vehicles, recovery vehicles and construction equipment -along with a 6 man crew- to wherever the missions calls.

HET A1 Specifications:
  • Curb Weight: 44,550 lbs
  • Fifth Wheel Vertical Load: 46,000 lbs
  • Gross Combined Weight Rating: 243,400 lbs
  • Max Speed: 50 mph
  • Engine: CAT 700 hp 18.1 liters
This armor plated beast can tackle any terrain thanks to its 700 horsepower caterpillar C18 engine.  The average heavy hauler puts out between 400-600 hp. For optimal maneuverability, the first and last axles steer independently, and it also has a central tire inflation for all-terrain mobility - which is needed to transport the 70-ton M1 Abrams main battle tank. For the operators of this astonishing machine and the our Nation's Armed Forces, TruckLogics salutes you.
